Java
Java is a programming platform from Sun Microsystems. It was originally designed for a devide to provide a simple way of controlling a variety of products. Microsoft has incorporated it into Internet Explorer, but not the standard version. Applications written in Java should run on any system. It broiuyght the capability to support graphics, animation, games etc. to the world wide web.
Java is a programming language for writing programs that can not only be run on machines that support Java (Java applications), but can also be embedded in web pages (Java applets). Programs can work as applets and/or applications. Embedding executable code in a web page allows the page to be interactive, with animations, games and interactive transaction processing.>

I've been interested in Java for some time, for example see the log of a discussionon CompuServe with Gary McGraw, author of "Securing Java: Getting Down to Business with Mobile Code" on September 18th, 1999.
